A thought-provoking session on Gender Sensitization was conducted by Dr. Mithlesh Sharma at Global College of Pharmacy. The event aimed to create awareness and foster a more inclusive environment by addressing issues of gender equality, stereotypes, and biases.
Dr. Mithlesh Sharma, a renowned expert in gender studies and social equity, began the session by emphasizing the significance of understanding gender as a social construct. She highlighted how ingrained stereotypes often lead to discrimination and inequities in various spheres of life, including education, the workplace, and domestic settings.
The session included discussions on:
The difference between gender and biological sex.
The impact of societal norms on individual identity and opportunities.
The importance of breaking stereotypes to achieve equality.
Real-life examples of gender bias and their long-term implications.

Dr. Sharma also touched upon the legal framework supporting gender equality in India, including the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act and the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace Act.
